<p><ul> <li>Data mining, data visualisation and pattern recognition.</li>  <li>Visualisation methods including exploratory projection pursuit, multidimensional scaling and Kohonen self-organising maps. </li>  <li>Cluster analysis. </li>  <li>Applications to gene expression arrays and functional MRI. </li>  <li>Classification methods: from linear (LDA and logistic discrimination) to non-linear (neural networks). </li>  <li>Near-neighbour methods. </li>  <li>Ideas of expert systems. </li>  <li>Overview and examples of Bayesian belief networks. </li>  <li>Assessment of classification methods and experimental design for computational experiments.</li>  </ul></p>
